Our Discharge Lounge offers a relaxed, comfortable, and safe environment for patients awaiting discharge home or to an onward care setting.
By using the Discharge Lounge, hospital beds are made available as early as possible, which reduces the length of time patients spend in the Emergency Department.
We aim to keep patients as comfortable as possible, with hot and cold refreshments available throughout their stay. By using the Discharge Lounge, the ward bed can be given to another patient who urgently requires an inpatient admission. Transferring patients to the Discharge Lounge helps us to reduce waiting times and improves the speed and quality of care we can deliver.
Every patient using the Discharge Lounge is also helping another patient.
