St Mary’s Vaccination Hub is getting ready to open it doors to the public on Tuesday 1 April as the COVID-19 spring vaccination programme begins.
St. Mary’s Vaccination Hub is offering COVID-19 vaccinations to adults over 75 years and to those aged over 18 years with severe immunosuppression.
There are several ways to get a spring vaccination. Many people will be invited for an appointment, but if you are eligible, you don’t need to wait to be invited. St Mary’s Vaccination Hub offers a walk-in service, or you can book using the National Booking System, by calling 119, or using the NHS App, until 17 June. If you use the walk-in service, you may experience a wait.
The vaccination hub will be open from:
- Tuesday 1 April to Thursday 17 April, on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 8:30am to 5:00pm
- Tuesday 22 April to Thursday 1 May, on a Tuesday and Thursday, 8:30am to 12:30pm.
Sue Lightfoot, Clinical Lead, Hospital Vaccination Centre, said: “COVID-19 is more serious in older people and in people with certain underlying health conditions and levels of protection may decline over time. Booster doses are offered to help you maintain strong protection from becoming seriously ill or needing to go to the hospital if you catch COVID-19.
“We are looking forward to welcoming our Island community back to the Vaccination Hub at St Mary’s this spring. We will also soon be offering roving clinics that we will be running at various community venues around the Island.”
If you are not sure if you have a condition that means you’re eligible for the vaccination, or you need help with booking an appointment, the NHS Hampshire and Isle of Wight COVID Vaccination Helpline team will be able to help via 0300 561 0018.
