In response to patient feedback, we are enhancing our consent process by introducing Concentric Health’s digital consent platform, designed to support patients in making informed decisions about their treatment
Concentric Health, a UK based company, is the market leading solution. The system uses a secure link sent by email and / or text message. Patients consent for procedures using a computer, tablet or phone. If patients do not have a device at home, they can give their consent during an appointment at the hospital.
This change will be introduced from October 2024 onwards, and has several benefits for patients and clinicians:
- Better patient experience and understanding of the decision making process
- Information easily accessible online for patients before and after treatment
- Patients can easily share detailed treatment and recovery information with friends and family
- The ability for patients to give consent remotely, at their leisure
- Less ‘on the day’ delays and cancellations
- Reduced errors on consent forms with improved documentation
- Supporting NHS England’s ‘Net Zero’ target by reducing the use of paper
Rachel Dominey, Associate Director – Digital Transformation at the trust said: ‘We are delighted to be using Concentric’s application to digitise our consent process. This will ensure we meet the national standards for obtaining patient consent and will better inform our patients during the consent process."
