Our Chemotherapy Unit is designed to provide a spacious, calm, and comfortable environment for patients.
The service provides oral and intravenous cytotoxic therapies, biological therapies, and supportive therapies to adults.
It is largely consultant led with treatments prescribed by visiting consultant oncologists from the cancer centres at Southampton and Portsmouth, and our consultant haematologists who are based at St Mary’s Hospital.
The chemotherapy service is consultant nurse-led. Treatments are prescribed by visiting oncology consultants from the tertiary centres of Southampton and Portsmouth and haematologists who are based at St Mary’s. The visiting consultants attend St Mary’s and hold clinics once weekly, sometimes along with their registrars and nurse practitioners. They are supported by the cancer clinical nurse specialists and acute oncology teams.
Referral to the unit is via our oncology or haematology consultants.
