Urology is a surgical speciality dealing with the urinary tract of males and females kidney, ureters, bladder, and urethra, as well as the male reproductive system.
The Urology Unit provides general urological services for acute and chronic conditions.
Major complex pelvic surgery is undertaken at Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth. This comprises mainly radical prostatectomy, radical cystectomy, and all laparoscopic urological procedures.
In addition, male and female urinal incontinence treatments are offered locally. Urological investigation for lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) formerly known as prostatism is carried out by a clinical nurse specialist.
Outpatient clinics are held at St. Mary's Hospital and at Ryde Outpatients Clinic. Emergency cases are via our Emergency department at St Mary's.
